Montblanc Masters of Art Homage to Vincent van Gogh Limited Edition 4810 Fountain Pen, 129156
This Limited Edition 4810 fountain pen from Montblanc's Masters of Art Collection is the perfect homage to Vincent van Gogh, one of the most popular painters of the late 19th Century. This particular edition draws from his time in Arles, its design details reflecting the Provencal wheatfields and one of his most famous paintings, “Sunflowers”. The barrel ring is engraved with the date 1888, beside Vincent's signature, to commemorate the year he moved to Arles. The barrel showcases shades of yellow and orange, reflecting the sun-drenched landscapes of southern France. Van Gogh's famous series of sunflower paintings inspired the embossed detailing found on the handcrafted 18ct gold, rhodium-coated nib.
The artist developed a looser, more free style and became equally competent with brush and palette knife – which he used for chunky, impetuous “impasto” work. The platinum coated clip is inspired by Van Gogh's palette knife, while his sweeping brushwork is immortalised in the yellow lacquer of the cap top. His fondness for pipe smoking, shown in many of his self-portraits, is captured in a subtle detail of the clip: the upper being shaped as a pipe’s bowl, and filled with yellow precious resin. In celebration of Vincent's fascination for traditional Japanese woodblock prints, the overall shape of the pen is inspired by a Japanese woodcutting knife, while the cap is made from wood. The edition is crowned by a Montblanc emblem made of yellow precious resin.
The pen is presented inside a genuine Montblanc gift box, making it the perfect gifting experience for Montblanc collectors and art lovers alike.
