The Speedmaster Moonwatch is a professional chronograph first launched in 1957 and later immortalised on the lunar surface in 1969. Originally created for motorsport timing with its tachymeter bezel, the Speedmaster was formally flight-qualified by NASA in 1965 after proving itself the only watch to survive their rigorous qualification tests, and has been on every crewed NASA mission since. All 12 people who have ever walked on the Moon were equipped with the Speedmaster as part of their mission. Since then, its 42mm case, tricompax dial layout and manual-wind movement have remained remarkably consistent, preserving a timeless aesthetic while embracing technical advances including Co-Axial escapements and METAS certified precision.
