The foundations of Georg Jensen as a company were built in 1904 in Copenhagen, following artist and sculptor, Georg Jensen’s graduation at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1892. Born in 1866, Jensen began training in goldsmith at the age of just 14 where his apprenticeship with the firm Guldsmed Andersen ended in 1884. He then went on to follow his artistic interests and his clay sculptures were very well received before creating Georg Jensen jewellery pieces.
Renowned for creating some of the most beautiful pieces of jewellery and luxury wristwatches in the world, the company’s aesthetics are brought together by artisanal skill and the finest craftsmanship. Many people wear Georg Jensen jewellery as an expression of their personal taste in jewellery. The creations give a lady’s look identity and a talking point to any outfit they are combined with. The creator of the company itself, Georg Jensen, had a vision to create stunning pieces of jewellery that serve not only as an elegant accent to lady’s attire, but one that doubles up as a functional piece that feels comfortable against the skin also. The Georg Jensen universe has since grown into home ware, and hollow ware.
The main trademark of a piece of Georg Jensen jewellery is the manufacturer’s trademark which can be found in the form of initials or personal marks on every creation.
