Bvlgari watches have been embodying the spirit of Italian luxury since the year 1884, standing out for their elegant designs, beautiful craftsmanship and superior materials. The company has most notably put itself on the map for creating some of the world’s thinnest movements, yet its more technical innovations include tourbillons, GMT watches and chronograph watches. Bvlgari watches are known for their Italian styling, fused with Swiss precision, with ladies' Bvlgari watches proving some of their most covetable designs, lavishly decorated with colourful gemstones and diamonds.
Whilst Bvlgari used to rely on movements produced by third parties, like the Zenith El Primero, the company manufactures many of its own movements today and earned itself a reputation for crafting flat movements, like the 1.95mm thick engine used inside the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Tourbillon. Other Bvlgari watches with flat movements include the Octo Finissimo Chrono GMT and the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater. One interesting element to Bvlgari’s evolution as a leading luxury watchmaker is the inspiration it has taken from famous Gerald Genta designs since the year 2000 when Bvlgari took over the designer’s company. Examples o a clear Gerald Genta-inspired design can be seen in the watchmaker’s Octo and Bvlgari Bvlgari watches.
The Bvlgari Octo watch is described as a flat octagonal watch with a round bezel and a matching octagonal-shaped dial. Amongst this collection is the entry model, Octo Roma, characterised by its minimalist dial, applied stick indexes and an Arabic 6 and 12 o’clock marker. Even flatter is the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo with a depth that measures just less than 6mm and an equally thin calibre BVL138. Bvlgari Octo Finissimo watches feature a small second counter at 7 o’clock, stick indexes for the hour markers, Arabic numerals placed once again at 12 and 6 o’clock, and an instantly recognisable octagonal case topped with a rounded bezel. There are, however, more complicated timepieces available from the Bvlgari Octo watches collections, including the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Tourbillon with a flying tourbillon, the Octo Finissimo Chrono GMT with a second time zone, and the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater.
The Bvlgari Bvlgari watch collection is the place to go to find a dress watch. Traditional in style, these models feature a rounded case as opposed to the octagonal shape of the Bvlgari Octo but share the same hour tracks represented in a mix of stick hour markers and Arabic numerals. There are men’s Bvlgari watches and women’s Bvlgari watches to choose from within this range of dress watches, as well as quartz and automatic versions available. Many of the ladies' Bvlgari Bvlgari watches are adorned with diamonds, with crowns set with cabochons. Bvlgari Bvlgari watches for women vary in size from 23 to 33mm, whilst the men’s watches offer a conventional 41mm diameter.
For something sportier, Bvlgari offers the Diagono watch with a wide case, integrated lugs, a crown protector and a stainless steel construction, with other versions offering a more luxurious 18ct rose gold bezel. Available in a three-handed version or a sportier chronograph version, the Bvlgari Diagano watch accompanies other popular models from the famous watchmaker, like the LVCEA series, characterised by beautiful Intarsio marquetry-effect dials and diamond-set bezels. Other popular Bvlgari watches include the luxurious Bvlgari Serpenti series. Serpenti watches and Serpenti Seduttori watches by Bvlgari have a unique wrap-around flexible link bracelet that evokes the look of a snake’s body coiling around the wrist. The case shape of a Bvlgari Serpenti watch is also inspired by the snake’s head, with a crown and bezel often embellished with colourful gemstones and diamonds.
