Despite the launch of the company's first stainless steel sports watches like the Nautilus, yellow gold was used regularly at Patek Philippe's manufacturing facilities in Geneva, Switzerland. Yellow gold is incredibly slow to tarnish and corrode, making it a popular material to use in watch manufacture at a time when Patek Philippe was establishing itself as a leading creator and supplier of luxury Swiss-made wristwatches and pocket watches the late 1880’s.
