Cutting edge watchmaking technology lies at the heart of every watch in this collection, paying tribute to the company’s pioneering spirit - the driving force behind so many collections since Longines first began making timepieces.
Longines Heritage watches mark the journey of the brand’s success to date. Encompassing over 180 years of refined expertise in the industry of luxury Swiss watchmaking, Longines are particularly proud of their achievements in the world of haute horlogerie - some of their most iconic designs evolving from this collection of watches alone.
The collection captures the true pioneering spirit of Longines’ watchmaking technology. Their masterpieces are renowned for delivering on performance, quality and elegance. Accompanying many professionals on land, in the air or out on the sea, Longines Heritage watches embody the beauty of quintessential Swiss luxury. Among so many popular timepieces from this iconic watch family, the Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch must be one of the most memorable of all. The instrument was a re-issue in of the original timepiece developed for Charles Lindbergh in 1931 -the famous American Pilot. Other pinnacles reached throughout Longines’ successful journey so far, include the re-issue of a watch designed especially for Swissair pilots in the 1950s - the Longines Twenty-Four Hours watch, and The Longines Weems Second-Setting Watch which was a tribute to the navigation system devised by Captain Philip van Horn Weems.
Today, the Longines Heritage watch collection is an eclectic mix of technical timekeeping instruments - each one with its very own identity and strengths. The Heritage Aviation Type A-7 1935 watch features an off-centre hour track with chronograph minutes and seconds at 12 and 6 o’clock respectively, and the powerful Caliber L788.2, Self winding mechanical column wheel single push-piece chronograph movement, which provides the wearer with a 54 hour power reserve.
The Heritage 41mm Column-Wheel Single Push-Piece Chronograph is yet another unique looking timepiece boasting aviation-inspired aesthetics and a detailed tachymeter scale. The Longines watch communicates impressive technical appeal whilst still remaining highly legible and to-the-point. The precise Caliber L788, Self winding movement is a meticulous companion which promises the wearer an impressive 54 hours power reserve, 28,800 vibrations per hour.
For something a little simpler in appearance, the Heritage 35mm Black/Rose Dial Automatic Men's Watch is particularly clean in appearance and boats a contemporary feel that is sure to be welcomed by the younger generation. Chunky rose gold hour indexes demand attention with their chiseled aesthetics - elements that team beautifully with the elegant Longines logo and lettering beneath the 12 o’clock location. A date aperture is provided in an unusual position on the dial of this watch, emanating from the top of the display at 12 ‘clock. To finish, the Longines Heritage watch is fastened via a traditional black leather strap which keeps the meticulous Caliber L633 self winding mechanical movement close to the wearer’s skin.
Among other popular Heritage watches, there are albeit some very classic, clean and purist designs. The Military COSD 40mm Black Dial variation will appeal to those who like a classic design with an unusual twist. A 24 hour track is nestled inside the outer hour ring, embellished in a subtle red colour which, from a distance imposes no real presence upon the dial. It is not until however, the wearer is up close and personal with the watch that the 24 hour ring reveals itself, communicating beautifully with sword-shaped luminescent treated central hands to provide an unusual interpretation of modern day timekeeping.
