WOTW: Bremont MBIII 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Men's Automatic Watch

To many it may not seem like all that long ago since Bremont launched the iconic MB series. The exclusive family of timepieces was built for pilots only and was developed in response to world-recognised aviation company, Martin Baker contacting the British watchmakers themselves, requesting an accurate timekeeping tool that was subject to the same rigorous testing as one of MB’s ejection seats. No longer than two years after, talks commenced between the two prestigious companies and the first MBI was developed – an exclusive timepiece for the wrists of only those who have ejected from an aircraft using a Martin Baker seat.

10 years later and not only have the two British aviation-obsessed brothers set benchmarks across the watchmaking industry, but they have a whole load of limited edition timepieces to be proud of – one of the most recent being the Bremont MBIII 10th anniversary special edition watch, which celebrates a mixture of the company’s successes along with many characteristics that the MB series has come to be so renowned and globally loved for.

The Bremont MBIII 10th anniversary limited edition watch boasts the best of British pioneering and combines the brother’s in-built love for aviation tools with their thirst for innovative and forward-thinking design. Not only aesthetically pleasing but displaying distinct features of the MB series, the timepiece is powered by the automatic BE-93-AE Chronometer movement with an impressive 42 hour power reserve and an unmistakable pilot-friendly layout. The dial itself is painted in a limited edition white and showcases Super-LumiNova-filled hands and indexes that are coloured a crisp black for enhanced legibility. The hour, minute and second hands are easily readable on the dial, as is the 24 hour GMT hand which is highlighted with a red painted triangular arrow-tip. The domed anti reflective sapphire glass lens is integrated with scratch resistant technology and seals securely to a hardened stainless steel Trip-Tick® case construction with a titanium case barrel. An inner soft iron anti-magnetic Faraday cage promises ultimate protection over the movement, whilst an anti-shock movement mount and an inner bi-directional Roto-Click® bezel also feature in this design.

For a comfortable and aesthetically-pleasing fit, Bremont play it safe with an unimposing 42mm case diameter which looks at home on the wrist whist still being able to catch attention. A decorated caseback features a limited edition Martin-Baker MK16 Ejector Seat engraving with 6 stainless steel screws and polished heads for a slight industrial-inspired look. Yet again, Bremont impress with their skills and refined finishing touches, which celebrate yet another meaningful collaboration with a British manufacturer. Martin Baker’s ejection seats are used in more than 80 aircraft types and have saved 7595 lives. The MBIII 10th anniversary watch, limited to just 310 pieces world-wide, displays the “DANGER DANGER DANGER” print in red at the southern hemisphere of the dial and nods back to some of the first shock-resistant MB watches created by Bremont when the company first entered the picture back in 2009.

Those with a preference for the classic leather strap will find the black leather band with red contrast stitching down the sides, a nice addition to this timepiece. The watch promises an impressive 100 meter water resistant case and yields tangible real-world utility for wearing every day of the week.
