WOTW: Breguet Reine de Naples Pink Leather Strap Watch

The Queen of all Swiss wristwatches is the Reine de Naples watch by Breguet – the very first of which was made for Napoleon Bonaparte’s sister, Caroline Murat in 1810. She was a well-known admirer of Breguet’s wristwatches, intrigued by the way each timepiece was crafted so delicately and uniquely to the next. Breguet founder, Abraham-Louis Breguet decided to design the Queen of Naples her very own Breguet watch, and like every timepiece that followed - it took time, consideration and care in order to complete it. The very first Reine de Naples watch took years to make and drew upon a vast reservoir of skills from Breguet’s team of in-house watchmakers. The result would go on to see an entire collection made in tribute to this special timepiece - the Reine de Naples watch collection.

And so, it went that ladies all over the world in search of a luxurious statement piece would turn their heads at the sight of a Reine de Naples watch. Infused with elegant tones and crafted from some of the finest materials in the luxury Swiss watch industry, these impeccable tools double up nicely as a piece of eye-catching jewellery and culminate a sassy mix of modern and traditional design elements.

This Reine de Naples watch carries all the distinctive characteristics that remain faithful to the original design. The iconic egg-shaped case construction, designed especially to elongate the slenderness of the wrist and enhance a lady’s elegant side, is crafted from lustrous 18ct white gold material. Its surface shimmers under the light, enhanced of course, by an entire bezel showered with plenty of round brilliant cut diamonds dancing playfully under the light. Stretched and enlarged Arabic numerals have been draped in a crisp black hue against a captivating mother of pearl backdrop. Adding to the watch’s flirtatious spirit, the watch certainly embodies Breguet’s passion for finding perfection in even the smallest of details. The blued steel central hands are a delightful finishing touch to the dial. They parade the irredescent shimmering shades of the pearl dial, surrounded by a row of even smaller sparkling diamonds that have been nuzzled inside the bezel itself.

Of course, a clearly readable dial is always granted when it comes to a classic Breguet watch. This is made possible by a sheet of sapphire crystal glass, treated with layers of anti-reflective technology and scratch resistant properties. The glass seals tightly to the rim of the case, enabling for an impressive 30-meter water resistance.

If you’re a lady who relies on her watch every second of the day, you’ll appreciate that investing in a luxury wristwatch goes far further than picking a watch that looks easy on the eye. More than just a status symbol, Breguet Reine de Naples watches stand for peerless quality. The company choose to fit this lady’s Breguet watch with the in-house developed Caliber 586/1, which performs at a rate of 22,600 vibrations per hour and provides an impressive 38-hour power reserve. The movement can be viewed in full working order through a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback. Whilst flipping the watch over to admire the beating heart of this watch, you’ll also notice the diamond-adorned crown which glistens with a single diamond weighing approximately 0.26 carats. The finishing touches of a Breguet watch really are the way to any lady’s heart. This timepiece hugs the delicate contours of the lady’s wrist with a stylish pink alligator leather strap, completed with a divine deployment buckle crafted from 18ct white gold.
