The Omega Seamaster - “Masters of the Sea” – companions to professional divers and the secret agent himself. Omega watches are renowned for their expert diver’s watches. Waterproof to 1,200 meters, Co-Axial Calibers, robust case constructions – their list of qualities are endless. But the Omega Seamaster collection encompasses all of these attributes and more. The collection was introduced in 1948 and is one of the oldest series that is still under production at Omega. Many of the design choices of the iconic Seamaster, took inspiration from the square-shaped Omega Marine – a timepiece built for underwater use and also the first within the watch industry to receive certification that it could withstand pressure up to 13.5 atm, or a depth of around 135 meters.
The Omega Seamaster collection was thus born, the members of which consist of; the Aqua Terra 150m, the Planet Ocean 600m and the Seamaster 300m. The year of 1955 marked a truly ground-breaking milestone for the Omega Seamaster when it was chosen to accompany diver Gordan Maclean down to depths of 62.5 meters in Australian waters where it resurfaced undamaged. The Seamaster then went on to serve many divers from military or civil sectors, along with the UK Royal Navy Special Boat Service – gaining an extraordinary reputation courtesy of its strength, robustness and stamina.
Omega Seamaster watches are ideal choices for all things water related. The timepieces will withstand up to 15 bar of pressure – many withstanding more, and will exceed expectations when used for snorkeling, kayaking, water rafting, surfing and of course, diving. Both Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig have made appearances with a trusty Seamaster strapped to the arm, in the Secret Agent James Bond series. The timepiece for men are masculine, functional and incredibly sleek – making them attractive instruments to own by gentleman both young and mature.
The Omega Seamaster 300m is by far one of the most popular diver’s models in the world – and one of the most reliable. Its versatile design allows it to be worn as a sporty dress watch, as well as a diver’s companion, with its superb luminescent coating applied to chunky central hands and hour indexes, a 300 meter water resistance and a rotatable bezel. The Omega Seamaster 300m is also equipped with a helium escape valve – a feature that will be well-received by dedicated diving enthusiasts, who require the help of the valve to reduce and balance pressure within the watch to ensure sound working of its internal mechanism.
The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m range offers a classic aesthetic with an elegant and somewhat conservative look. The timepieces can be dressed with a suit, or sophisticated evening attire, yet remains understated enough so as not to distract from the outfit itself. The Aqua Terra range is available in quartz version for both the lady and the gentleman, and offers the option of a rose gold and stainless steel bi-colour combination.
