IWC Schaffhausen was born thanks to a groundbreaking entrepreneurial vision shared by Boston’s E. Howard Watch and Clock Company manager, Florentine Ariosto Jones. The 27 year old pioneer, who was also a watchmaker and engineer, aspired to meld exquisite Swiss watchmaking precision, with America’s cutting edge technology. The result was something rather revolutionary. IWC watches landed a place at the forefront of innovative watchmaking. Not only that, but they remained there. Florentine’s collaboration with Heinrich Moser, an industrialist from Schaffhausen, brought some of the oldest and most respected clock making traditions in line with the entrepreneur’s vision, and as a result, IWC watches became a trusted wristwatch for generations to come. You only need look at the level of intricate craftsmanship and meticulous engineering of an IWC watch to appreciate their extraordinary journey to success. From the first in-house manufactured movements in 1915, to their new concepts brought to the wrists of the most dedicated of watch fanatics today, IWC have refined their skills in ultimate craftsmanship to create timepieces that balance functionality with the most beautiful of aesthetics.

The IWC Ingenieur collection is both beautifully crafted and distinct in looks. The collection features a family of self-winding watches that demonstrate simple three hand designs and date apertures at 3 o’clock, or the more technically advanced chronographs which enhance the masculinity of their oyster style cases, crafted from durable stainless steel material. The IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Edition “W 125” Watch however, offers something a little more lightweight on the wrist, yet still maintains a defined chiseled look, with an ultra-precise in-house 69370 calibre which offers a Mercedes-Benz W 125-inspired design, fitted with a black calfskin strap.

IWC Portugieser watches are round-faced nods to some of Portugal’s most iconic seafaring explorers; Bartolomeu Dias, Vasco da Gama and Ferdinand Magellan to name but a few. The timepieces are nautical-inspired instruments, fitted with a superb compilation of high-grade materials and technically impressive components. Their formidable range of athletic  chronographs consist of versions with 18ct red gold cases and black dials, perpetual calendars crafted from  white gold bezels, and the IWC Portugieser Yacht Club watch with striking red central second hand.

A collection of beautiful tonneau-shaped cases make up the iconic IWC Da Vinci watch family. These timepieces celebrate the highest level of technical innovation, together with Leonardo Da Vinci’s vision for pure artistic beauty. The collection features automatics, perpetual calendars and sporty looking chronographs, along with a variety of eye-catching ladies models boasting glamorous diamond set bezels and attention-demanding pink leather straps.

IWC Aquatimer watches are marine timepiece with rugged aesthetics. Their purpose in life is to provide the wearer with precision and legibility under some of the most challenging of conditions. Equipped with chiseled bezels, anti reflective sapphire crystal fronts and chunky hour batons – IWC Aquatimer watches mean business. For something a little more elegant-looking, IWC Schaffhausen produced the Portofino watches collection. The timepieces sing to those with an affection for classic timekeepers and hint at Italian-inspired aesthetics. IWC Portofino watches offer classic smooth silver, anthracite and deep blue dials with very little else complicating their finely tuned appliqués. The arrangement of the dials, together with the quality of their in-house movements, are a reflection of IWC Schaffhausen’s passion for contemporary elegance and classic functionality.
