It is a known fact that Glashutte Original Senator watches are some of the finest haute horology inventions made by the German watchmaker. The collection oozes character and charm, not to mention a few characteristics that set these instruments miles apart from any other luxury wristwatch on the market today. Thanks to the company’s ability to create watches with a classical beauty and technical excellence, the Senator collection has still remained a family of watches with its own unique look. The Saxonian brand blended a three handed watch with a brand new in-house developed movement and came up with the Glashutte Original Senator Excellence watch. Other creations from the range are those such as the Glashutte Original Senator Observer with two crisp chronograph dials at 3 and 9 o’clock, elegant dauphine-shaped minute and hour hands, and a centrally mounted date aperture at 6 o’clock. As a dress watch, this luxury men’s wristwatch bridges the gap between something highly practical and something that communicates a sleek elegance for those extra special moments in life.
The Glashutte Original Senator Panorama Date is a watch with a similar structure as the Observer. The black dial with light blue luminescent coated central hands and Arabic numerals, creates a beautiful contrast of colours, enhanced further by a matching black leather strap with light blue edged stitching. The timepiece features chronograph hours, seconds and minutes features with a legible date feature nestled in between these to create a pleasing balance across the dial. Equipped with an additional flyback feature and a power reserve indicator, the gentleman can be sure to keep track of the watch’s remaining energy before enjoying winding the instrument back up by hand.
The Glashutte Original Senator Excellence watch was first launched in 2016 and adopts design cues seen in the original Senator Automatic watch, although now, somewhat more refined and elegant. The diameter of the bezel has been thinned out to open up the dial, and the case itself is less bulky but sharper and sleeker instead, with brushed casebands. With having no other distractions around the bezel, the dial needed to be both readable and beautiful. The white face and black Roman numeral hour markers are particularly pleasing to the eye, and the grainy textured surface of the dial gives off some nice reflections under the light. The remaining hour batons around the edge of the dial allow for the time to be accessed easily by the wearer – enhanced of course, by a sapphire crystal glass front with anti reflective and scratch resistant properties.
Whilst the classic silver dial with black leather strap is a popular choice for the Glashutte Original Senator Excellence watch, the timepiece also comes in a sleek black dial version. With a slightly different minute track and large white Arabic numerals, the watch ha a subtle pilot-inspired design, making it a great choice for wearing as a slightly dressier statement piece with a smart dinner jacket or an after-work suit.
