The husband and wife team, Eugene Blum and Alice Levy joined forces in 1911 and have gone on to reach many milestones in horological history. Eugene Blum et (and) Levy joined their initials to create the name and each timepiece created by the Swiss company now bears the iconic back-to-back “E” lettered motif which feature at the top of every watch dial. Some of the most iconic masterpieces created by Ebel were their ladies' strap wrist watch in 1912 and their diamond jewellery watch ring in 1914, but the company also played an integral part in supplying the British military with ground-breaking reliability for the wrists of Pilots fighting in the Second World War.
These timepieces aided the British Royal Air Force whilst carrying out air missions throughout Europe. Aside from creating these memorable timepieces, Ebel are also highly respected for their production of wristwatches for females. Compared to other rival companies on the market today, Ebel’s selection of ladies’ wristwatches is second-to-none. With such a huge variety of different styles and designs to choose from, women of all ages and professions can immerse themselves in a generous assortment of wristwatches that not only demonstrate the breadth of Ebel’s watchmaking technology but also their passion for diversity and uniqueness.
Ebel is now managed and directed by the founder's grandson Pierre Alain Blum who took over in 1970, injecting the collections with youth and versatility. The Sport Classic collection became an instant global success for its distinctive features like their flecks of rose gold or yellow gold combined with the lustre of their stainless steel cases and their traditional Roman numeral indexes. The collection oozes contemporary elegance with a sporty edge, with timepieces that can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion in question. With hardy sport-infused aesthetics and with a stronger focus on the desires of a woman – it was no surprise that these timepieces became an instant success.
