Chopard are serious about watchmaking. Their R&D Unit, headquartered at Chopard Manufacture in Fleurier, Switzerland, is responsible for driving new concepts forward and developing new technologies for each innovation. Their first ever movement fitted with a high frequency escapement with COSC certification is one of these breakthroughs. The Chopard Caliber L.U.C 01.06-L made its debut in the Chopard LUC 8HF watch, presented at Baselworld 2012. With an impressive 57,600 vibrations per hour, this movement excelled expectations, operating at a much higher frequency than most other traditional mechanical movements. Chopard’s sister factory situated close by, is responsible for creating a range of different calibres for their unique collections, and was cranking out 5000 mechanical movements per year by 2012. It is this dedication to producing engines of the very highest calibre, that has earned Chopard a place amongst the elite of the watchmaking industry.
As an official stockist of automatic Chopard watches here at Berry’s, we invite you to take a peruse through our collections of self winding mechanical timepieces, from designs like the glamorous Happy Sport line, to the classic L.U.C watch collection. Machining, decoration, assembly and jewel fitting of each automatic Chopard watch, is taken incredibly seriously at the Maison’s manufacturing headquarters. The finer details of the watch are often the most admirable, and this includes the intricately arranged components of each mechanical movement fitted to the heart of the design. More often than not, Chopard choose to put these special movements on display through an exhibition caseback. The lens which acts as the window into the heart of the watch, is crafted from a sheet of sapphire crystal glass, integrated with scratch resistant properties as well as anti glare technology to prevent any distortion when looking through the lens.
Not all parts of the watchmaking process are carried out by hand. Cutting edge technology like Chopard’s computer-aided systems, automatically direct the movement to the correct production line in the factory. This painstaking precision is testament to Chopard’s work ethics, ensuring that one timepiece is carried out to the same exacting standards as the next. The Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Edition watch is a timepiece inspired by some of Chopard’s original creations. It features an all-silver dial with the twelfth hour represented in an Arabic numeral and all others of the baton type. The hands glide over a small seconds sub dial at 6 o’clock, driven by the L.U.C 96.03-L automatic movement with an impressive 65 hour power reserve. For an automatic movement, the case is slim and attractive. The movement is held inside a solid stainless steel house with 30 meter water resistant capabilities.
For something a little more eye-catching for the glamour-loving lady – the Chopard Happy Sport Watch with 30mm silver guilloche dial and elegant rose gold detailing is a great choice. It has been styled on a traditional black leather strap for offering round-the-clock comfort, but also features large rose gold coloured Roman numerals as part of the hour track – perfect for complimenting five free roaming diamonds afloat of the dial itself. The sparkling diamonds concept created by Chopard, allows the precious stones to roll in between two sheets of sapphire crystal glass, showcasing a spectacular dance of light and brilliance.
