Crafted from 18ct white gold and with a special hand-decorated caseback marking out the star formations seen on the night of Professor Stephen Hawking’s birth in 1942, the Bremont Hawking watch marks the brand’s 10th limited edition series so far. The 41mm Bremont brothers worked closely with the Hawking family to pay homage to the theoretical physicist who left an indelible mark within the field of cosmology. The pioneer created books and research papers on gravitational forces, black holes and the beginnings of the universe. Joining this specially engraved caseback is a piece of meteorite symbolising the cosmos and the white gold case also entombs pieces of original antique wood taken from an inherited desk that Hawking spent much of his time studying at. A deep blue dial swirled for a black hole-inspired effect features Super-LumiNova coated hands and indexes, a retrograde small second display at 6 o’clock and a grand date at 12 ‘clock. The “88” limited edition pieces are a nod to the scientist’s book launched in 1988 named the “Brief History of Time”. Each unique limited edition serial number from the series is stamped on an original seminar research paper co-written by Professor Stephen Hawking produced in 1979. The white gold Bremont Hawking limited edition watch is powered by the Modified calibre 11 1/2’’’ BE-33-AE. 29 and provides a 42-hour power reserve. The watch comes complete on a classic-looking deep blue alligator leather strap with traditional white gold pin buckle and offers a 100-meter water resistant case sealed with a sapphire glass front.
