Lange & Sohne’s values in quality craftsmanship and its vision for authenticity and exclusivity – we invite you to peruse the latest offerings from one of Glashutte’s most successful watch manufacturers.
The Glashutte watch is reborn…
A. Lange & Sohne was founded by Adolf Lange in 1845 – an apprentice who worked under an experienced watchmaker to gain his skills and knowledge in precision timekeeping. After graduating he went on to create the innovative three-quarter plate used in luxury watchmaking today. Before passing away he trained his sons, Emil and Richard in his field of expertise, enabling him to pass the company down to them and eventually, their sons. In 1900 the company’s 42500 Grand Complication became (and still remains) one of the most technically complex timepieces.
If not for its production facilities being destroyed during the Second World War, A. Lange & Sohne’s story may have been a little different. Everything happens for a reason, however. So, when great-grandson, Walter Lange’s building was brought down on the last night of the war in 1945, the company disappeared. The Berlin wall fell in 1989 and Walter Lange once again began thinking of ways to revive the company and relive his dream in watchmaking. He partnered with watch manager, Günter Blümlein and planned to establish the manufactory again. Bringing to life a reborn vision and a redesign of the faithful spirit of his great grandfather, Walter Lange’s new generation of luxury watches captured the spiritual essence of the brand’s roots.
In 1992 the company filed its first patent, followed by its first four A. Lange & Sohne watches. These timepieces soon became recognised for their unique hallmarks like an outsize date feature and an asymmetrical dial layout. In 2001 the company returned to its original building in Glashutte and opened its first boutique in Dresdon in 2007.
Over the years A. Lange & Sohne has created some exceptional timepieces including refined moonphase models, classic three-handed dress watches, annual and perpetual calendars, split-second rattrapante chronographs, and minute repeaters. Whether looking for luxury watches for men or dress watches for women – the German manufacturer equips its mechanical wristwatches with useful functions like date windows, power reserve displays and small second counters. The Maison is renowned for hand-crafting all of its own movements and combining these with precious gold cases and beautiful leather straps.
The 1815 series…

The 1815 watch collection by A. Lange & Sohne pays respect to the legacy of Ferdinand Adolph Lange who was born in the same year. Within this range, there are chronographs, tourbillons, annual calendars and perpetual calendars to choose from, as well as cases crafted from 18ct white gold and 18ct rose gold. Models like the A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Up/Down watch features a power reserve display between 7 and 9 o’clock which detects whether the movement is in a completely unwound state or fully powered. The watch was released in 2013 but incorporates a patent originally acquired in 1879. The model comes in a compact 39mm case crafted from 18ct rose gold. Other traditional elements of the pocket watch-inspired 1815 collection include a railway minute track, blued steel hands and hour tracks represented by Arabic numerals and clubs-shaped indexes.
The Zeitwerk collection…

A. Lange & Sohne Zeitwerk watches are unique in design. The collection pays homage to the manufacturer’s first watch to feature a numeral time display. The dial on a Zeitwerk watch features an hour display in the left hemisphere of the watch and a minutes display on the opposite side. The patented mechanism used in these watches drives three precisely switching hour and minute discs. After a successful first year in 2009, the watch was granted its own family with several variations of the design – each one equipped with striking complications and crafted from a superior blend of materials.
This 18ct white gold 42mm Zeitwerk watch features a legible black dial with the hour and minute displays running from left to right inside a central strip incorporating a small second feature. Powered by the Calibre L043.1 manual-wind movement, this engine is developed in-house and carries a running time of up to 36 hours.
The Lange 1 models…

Once A. Lange & Sohne had been re-established in the 1990s, the Lange 1 watch was one of the company’s first models. Its asymmetrical dial design features an off-centre hour and minute dial, accompanied by other features like a date aperture, a small second sub-dial and a power reserve indicator. Available in various 18ct rose gold or 18ct white gold iterations, Lange 1 watches are ideal for office work or for combining with professional attire.
For frequent travellers, the A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Timezone watch is a 42mm model crafted from 18ct rose gold that features an elegant argente dial. This display is equipped with a main timekeeping dial overlapped by a small second sub-counter, an additional 12-hour scale for using as a second time zone, a power reserve indicator, world cities displayed around the periphery of the dial, a day and night indicator, and a Panorama date.
The Saxonia timepieces…

Watches from the Saxonia collection celebrate the return of authentic watch manufacture to the German state of Saxony. The mechanics are the focal feature of many designs from this series, with models available in a range of different coloured dials, case materials and strap combinations.
The A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Annual Calendar is a timepiece for wearing every day of the week. Its compact 39mm 18ct rose gold bezel surrounds a legible argente dial equipped with a counter at 9 o’clock displaying the days of the week, balanced by a counter at 3 o’clock showing the months of the year. Balancing these two scales is a sub-counter at 6 o’clock featuring a small second mechanism integrated with a beautifully detailed moonphase indicator. The days of the month are displayed in a large Panorama date at 12 o’clock and the watch is completed on a very classic-looking brown alligator leather strap, securing with a matching 18ct rose gold buckle.
