During the Coronavirus outbreak, I am so happy to notify you all that we are doing so many things to keep our workforce reassured, safe, happy, informed and ready to return to our fabulous stores when we can.
Our staff are safe in the knowledge that, even though they are furloughed, we are topping up the 80% government contribution to 100% of their normal basic salary.
We have enrolled many of our staff, at their request, on various watch brand and Jewellery online training courses to hone their knowledge and skills even more.
We have ensured key staff are still in place to help any of our staff at whatever time of day or night if they need help with anything at all – business or personal.
Key staff in our finance department are working from home and continuing to support our international, national and local suppliers by making sure we pay them as normal. They are also assisting staff with any questions they may have.
We have set up store and department WhatsApp Groups to check in on each other and convey any news directly to or from our HQ. Our MD, Simon Walton and I are in daily, if not hourly contact with all of our store and Department Managers to offer support and guidance where needed.
We have renewed our HR contract with Clarion Solicitors, Leeds to ensure we give all of our staff expert and up to date information during this time and also to support our staff in any way needed. By doing this we will ensure that, with our exit strategy, we all come out of this extraordinary situation as content, enthusiastic and keen as we were before it.
Our website is still taking orders, albeit with certain stock and logistical exceptions and the team running this are doing a fantastic job working remotely from their homes. Even if you are not looking to buy now, why not take a look at www.berrysjewellers.co.uk and browse our selection or read our blogs and while away minutes of your day doing so here www.berrysjewellers.co.uk/blog ?
We are still checking and responding to any comments you may have via twitter, Facebook and Instagram and also on LinkedIn, night or day!
We will still be supporting our chosen Charity for 2020, Give A Duck [Registered Charity #1164904] in whatever way we can and are still planning on doing our 26 mile walk for them in September. I will also be allowing my wife to shave my head [number 2 clippers!] to remove my 1980’s haircut in the near future, to help with their Covid-19 fundraising effort, so keep an eye on our social media and sponsor link!
Please stay safe and healthy
