What could be more exciting than commissioning your own piece of Jewellery? Working with our designers, we will help you turn your ideas and inspiration into a beautiful piece of Jewellery that will be unique and hand-finished to the highest possible standard. If you already have an idea on the design, we can re-create this to ensure you have the style that you are looking for.
We are very proud to have two fantastic jewellery designers in our Leeds-based jewellery workshop. John, our head designer, has over 43 years experience and covers all aspects of jewellery design. John started in the jewellery trade at just 16 years old, when he studied jewellery manufacturing at college, during his studies he had the opportunity to work for a jeweller who designed for Kutchinsky, the world-renowned jewellers to the court of Ludwig of Bavaria.
John spends his life working with precious metals and gems; the most precious part of his work is measured, not in carats, but in the satisfaction that comes from producing something beautiful. “It is the creativity of starting with just an idea or a design and going through to the finished piece. It is a privilege to be able to work on something from start to finish. Not many people have that opportunity during their lifetime” he says.
Even with 43 years of experience behind him, John finds he is still learning new techniques and fresh ways of making jewellery as the precious metals and gems yield more of their hidden secrets. He says “Working with diamonds and gemstones is awe-inspiring, how many people can say that about their work?”
Sally is our second designer, she has over 16 years’ experience in the jewellery trade and over 12 years jewellery designing experience. Sally has always had a passion for jewellery and anything that sparkles describing herself as ‘a magpie in disguise’. Sally studied art and design at college and attended the highly-regarded School of Jewellery and Design in Birmingham, where she won an award in her first design competition. Sally says “my passion is to take a piece of jewellery that somebody may have fallen out of love with and transform it into a treasured item for them”.
Sally & John’s designs are totally individual and unique; they both enjoy the exciting process, seeing the finished product and the look on our customer’s faces when they reveal their newly produced work.
