When brothers, Louis-Victor and Célestin Baume opened a comptoir horloger in the small village of Les Bois in the Swiss Jura in 1830 - it sparked the beginnings of amazing things. The highest quality wristwatches were developed, and to this day that principle rings true – following Baume & Mercier’s motto, to create only perfection and nothing less. Baume & Mercier watches appeal to watch fanatics and enthusiastic collectors all over the world. These meticulously crafted timekeeping tools are developed from the finest materials using time-honoured manufacturing methods that have been handed down the family line for years.
By the late 19th century Baume & Mercier had already acquired a solid international reputation in the UK, having set up a shop in London in the late 1800’s. Demonstrating rare accuracy, the company won ten Grand Prix awards and seven gold medals at international exhibitions across the globe. It was not until the 1920’s that company director, William Baume joined forces with Paul Mercier and the company became “Baume & Mercier Geneve”. The Swiss watch manufacturer is also associated with creating some of the most beautiful and indulgent ladies’ wristwatches; with the collection including pieces inspired by periods like the Art Deco. Baume & Mercier proved to the world with their collections of watches for women are not merely smaller, simplistic interpretations of the gent’s range, moreover that they have indefinite style and character.
Every stage of the watchmaking process at Baume & Mercier is carried out in-house, promising the wrists of individuals a slice of authentic Swiss watch craftsmanship unlike any other. These rare and exquisite timepieces are results of the "établissage" process – a series of in-house processes carried out at the company’s workshops in the Swiss Jura, in Les Brenets. Watch production is centralised and exclusive to Switzerland, making each watch investable and desirable.
Baume & Mercier have created a number of collections including the likes of the Classima collection which caters to the desires and tastes of ladies as well as gentlemen. These designs remain faithful to classic watchmaking with simple three-handed dials and complicated chronographs with complete calendars.
